In the beginning, Pathumwilai School was an instituition for Buddhist monks, novices and children who resided in houses adjacent to the temple since 1898 AD.


Phra Kru Uttamoruwongthada (Suk), Sam Lae Temple Abbot had the strong belief in equal educational opportunity to produce capable personnels to work in competitive world and spend their lives in challenging environment. He not only pioneered the educational system and set up school throughout the community he also instructed all of learners by himself. Then, in 1902, Phra Kru Uttamoruwongthada provided personal funding for the construction and operation and achieved financial support from various sources both public and private sectors in the initial phase.
The school launched the curriculum in elementary level and provided the educational opportunity to all underprivileged children who had the yearning for success in learning apart from curriculum and instruction of Buddhist monks and novices.
In 1958, In pursuing Phra Kru Uttamoruwongthada’s objective, the government allocated the budget to commission a new building. According to the constraint of original land’s future expansion. Soon after, the school was constructed at the site of
the current address in Bang Prok Subdistrict, Mueang District, Pathum Thani Province.
His Excellency Mom Luang Pin Malakul, Education Minister at the time, graciously presided over the opening ceremony of new building.

After several years of operation, on February 6th, 1960, Mom Luang Pin declared that the school become “Pathumwilai School” inasmuch as the school curriculum expanded to meet the needs of the community and included more disciplines
Currently, our school has proudly used “ PW ” to be an acronym representing the vital importance of education and prosperity. Since February 6th, 1960 onwards,
every February 6th on an annual basis, is our School Foundation Day.
